Training Program Titles: Emergency/Basic First Aid – FETAC Level 5, 3 Day Occupational First Aid – Occupational First Aid Refresher
Aim: At the end of these training sessions, participants will be able to:
Recognise and respond to a range of common medical emergencies.
Provide CPR and use an AED (defibrillator).
Treat bleeding, burns, fractures, and shock.
Apply safe practices while waiting for professional medical help.
Understand their responsibilities as a workplace first aider.
Methodology: Interactive, Practical and theoretical.
Delivery:
Emergency / Basic First Aid: 1 day, introductory training.
QQI Level 5, 3-Day Occupational First Aid: Comprehensive, accredited qualification.
Occupational First Aid Refresher: 1 day, for renewing an existing certificate.
Course Content: First Aid legislation and responsibilities, CPR and AED use, managing choking and unconscious casualties, treatment of bleeding, burns, fractures and sprains, managing shock and other medical emergencies, and recording and reporting incidents are all key elements of this course. Participants will learn practical, life-saving skills and the legal duties involved in providing first aid at work, ensuring they can respond confidently and effectively in an emergency.
Qualification: Assessment is carried out through a mix of practical demonstrations and written or oral questioning (depending on course type).
Successful participants receive a QQI-certified First Aid certificate (valid 2 years) or an Absolute Safety certificate for shorter courses.
